Louisa Vini

Dr. Vini's illustrious career in oncology spans several decades and continents. Graduating from the Medical School of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Dr. Vini embarked on her journey in oncology. She further honed her skills in Clinical Oncology – Radiotherapy at the Royal College of Radiologists, Faculty of Oncology, London. From July 1993 to July 1995, Dr. Vini served as a Specialist Oncologist - Radiation Therapist, Supervisor at the esteemed Royal Marsden Hospital, London. During her tenure, she treated patients with various cancers including breast, brain, urinary, and gastrointestinal cancer. Continuing her academic pursuits, Dr. Vini held positions as a Lecturer/Researcher at the Institute of Cancer Research, Sutton, London, and later as Head of the Thyroid Cancer Research Group at the Royal Marsden. From 1999 to 2001, she assumed the role of Director of Oncology - Radiation Therapist in the Lung Cancer Group at the Royal Marsden in London. Returning to Greece, Dr. Vini assumed scientific responsibility for the Department of Clinical Oncology - Radiotherapy at the Trans-Balkan Medical Center from September 2001 to October 2002. Subsequently, she became the Director of the Department of Clinical Oncology - Radiotherapy at the Athens Medical Center from November 2002 till present. Throughout her career, Dr. Vini has been actively involved in numerous scientific societies and councils both in Greece and abroad. She has made significant contributions to the field through her extensive scientific and written work, presenting at over 30 international conferences and more than 20 Greek conferences. Additionally, Dr. Vini has authored chapters in both foreign and Greek oncology books, published numerous papers in prestigious international journals, and contributed to the development of treatment guidelines for various cancers.
