Labros Karagounis, MD

Dr. Karagounis is a renowned cardiologist with a career spanning over three decades. Starting as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Utah School of Medicine, he quickly rose through the ranks, serving as Assistant and Associate Professor. Concurrently, he was a Staff Physician at LDS Hospital and the University of Utah Medical Center. He's performed over 100 pacemaker and defibrillator implantations in America and Greece, earning a diploma in electrophysiology from the American Board. Currently, he serves as Director of Cardiac Catheterization at European Interbalkan Medical Center, Thessaloniki.

Dr. Karagounis pursued his medical education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Medicine from 1974 to 1981. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, Case Western Reserve Affiliated Hospitals, followed by a Clinical Instructor position in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He conducted research in Cellular Electrophysiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Further, he completed fellowships in Cardiology at the University of Virginia and LDS Hospital. Dr. Karagounis holds multiple medical certifications and state licensures, including from the American Board in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Electrophysiology. He also completed teaching experiences in various medical settings, showcasing his commitment to medical education.
